While the incursions are faction based, and pit Horde and Alliance forces against each other in open conflict. They are not necessary PvP (Player Vs Player) orientated, and can be completed in PvE (Player Vs Environment) mode as well. Completing the Zone Assault Quests (ZAQs) in PvE mode, and killing the enemy faction’s NPCs and trying to save your own NPCs. At the same time as enemy players are running around doing the same thing. Can be immersion breaking.
Benefits to Using PvE During Assault Events
Not having to watch out for trolls, and zerg rushes, while trying to interact with objects and NPCs, can have many benefits. Aside from taking care of mobs, that could interrupt your gathering or repairing animations. You can find that completing Assault World Quests is much easier to do, both on your own and with friends. As you will not be getting snipped from afar, CC’d or AoE interrupted while you’re try to perform an interaction. You can also be more or less, guaranteed to have all enemies ignore you and focus on other players while you gather.
For More Immersive Combat
For a true incursion experience, consider teaming up with friends or your guild members, and take the fight to other players. Known as Warmode, having PvP on can make things challenging and far more dangerous. When a zone is under assault, both factions will have their own ZAQ in the same area, during the event. Both factions may not have AWQs in the exact same spot. But they will have their 5 AWQs spread across the same area of the map. This means that the chance of running into enemy players is much higher, then you would expect to find in the open world.
Avoid Solo PvP
It would be advisable to not take part in Warmode Assault Events on your own. Even on your own continent, you could easily find yourself being ganked by the enemy. So either take part in solo Warmode, at your own risk, or find a group to stick with if you are trying to fly solo. No matter how good your gear is, is how good of a player you think yourself to be. Getting out numbered and being killed while you’re trying to complete a quest. Or being prevented from interacting with the required objects, is not a very fun way to spend your day.
